After moving to Portland from Corvallis, Corey began studying design at Portland Community College and continued her education here at PSU. After graduation, she will begin making and organizing creative projects in Seattle, Washington. Patricia Nicole Pahinag PATRICIA NICOLE PAHINAG is a first-generation college student graduating with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Film and a minor in Theater Arts. Born in Manila, Philippines, raised on the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawai'i, and now settled in the Pacific Northwest, Pahinag’s environment and diverse cultural experiences have been a constant influence in her creative work and values. She credits her family for the sacrifices, hard work, and determination that have motivated her to pursue higher education. Her passion for the arts has consistently pushed her to take on any opportunity to be involved in as many projects as possible, taking on many different roles in tech and performance, and learning as many skills as she can. Looking for a home away from home, she became heavily involved in student leadership with the Filipino American Student Association (Kaibigan), the Pacific Islanders Club (PIC), and Leadership Fellows. Throughout her four years at PSU, she helped coordinate events, took lead in the video production of both organizations, designed the lighting for several shows, performed in a musical and PIC’s annual Lu’au, and many other activities. Additionally, her determination extends beyond campus, working as a freelance filmmaker in the commercial and independent film industry. She hopes to use her platform to amplify the voices and stories of the AAPI community. What’s next? Pahinag will continue her freelance journey working as a cinematographer, assistant camera, and videographer in the commercial and independent film industry. She would like to extend her gratitude to her friends, family, peers, instructors, advisors, colleagues, and many more who have played a significant role in her growth and success throughout the years.
