Schnitzer, DHumL, hc ‘20 Native Oregonian Jordan Schnitzer is the President of Harsch Investment Properties, a Portland based Real Estate Acquisition, Development and Management Company started by his father in 1951. Harsch has regional offices in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Sacramento, Las Vegas and San Diego which oversee a portfolio of over 27,000,000 square feet of office, industrial, retail and multifamily properties. With a staff of over 300, Jordan has built Harsch into one of the largest privately held real estate property and management companies based in the Western United States. Jordan’s first involvement in civic and community activities began with board memberships at the Japanese Garden Society of Oregon, the University of Oregon Art Museum, and the Portland Art Museum. Since that time, he has served on over 30 nonprofit boards and organizations. Following his family’s commitment to support art and culture Jordan has created one of the largest contemporary print and multiple collections of post-World War II American artists, which he shares with the public. He and his family’s foundation have funded and organized over 140 exhibitions from his collection, which has traveled to more than 90 museums. Jordan serves as President of the Harold and Arlene Schnitzer CARE Foundation which has made grants in the excess of one hundred and fifty million dollars in the last twenty years. He also is President of the Jordan Schnitzer Family Foundation which has funded the renovations of the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at the University of Oregon, and the construction of the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at Washington State University and the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at Portland State University. Jordan is a 1973 graduate of the University of Oregon and in 1976 received his doctorate degree from Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College.
