THE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS - GRADUATE - SATURDAY, JUNE 15, 2019, 10 A.M. Student Speakers 10 a.m. Graduate Ceremony Meng Xu, MBA MENG XU, Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Finance, completed both degrees at the same time. She chose the MBA to improve her ability to make rational decisions through dialectical thinking, learn to collaboratively communicate and develop her self- awareness. She credits the finance program’s quantitative analysis for making her strategies more accurate. Meng was awarded The School of Business Summer 2018 International Program Scholarship, allowing her to participate in the MBA’s summer business development program in South America. Michael Adler, MBA MICHAEL ADLER, Master of Business Administration, is participating in the new Juris Doctor and MBA program between PSU and Lewis & Clark Law School. He will complete law school in May 2020 and will then study for the bar examination. He hopes to specialize in transactional law. He believes obtaining an MBA while earning his law degree provided a strong foundational understanding of the core business activities that drive transactional legal practice. During his time at PSU, he also completed a graduate research assistantship with the Graduate School of Education. Michael is a Pacific Islander from Kapolei, Hawaii, and credits his Asian Pacific culture for Born in Inner Mongolia, China, she was given a chance to study accordion and dance as a child. She was the leader of a dance team and won first place in an accordion competition when she was five years old. Her understanding of art has given her a positive attitude toward a diverse life. Next Meng plans to find a position with a global internet company in either the U.S. or China. She wants to thank her family, friends, faculty and staff for their encouragement; especially with the challenges of studying abroad so she may reach her goals. informing his perspective and shaping his work ethic. His background and experiences allow him to provide diversity of thought in both professional and academic situations. Michael was also a member of the US Figure Skating Team as a teenager and was a national pairs skating champion in 1999. He would like to thank his family for being supportive of his efforts to shift careers and attain an education later in life. He also wants to thank the faculty and staff at both PSU and Lewis & Clark. 11
