Kenneth W. and Elsie W. Butler Award for Library Faculty Service Cristine Paschild CRISTINE PASCHILD joined the Portland State University Library in 2008 and serves as the Library’s head of Special Collections and University archivist. During her relatively short tenure, she has demonstrated a tireless commitment to Portland State’s students, faculty, and staff. Professor Paschild provides high- quality, substantial work in her extensive and multi-faceted areas of responsibility. Her successes include management of all policies, standards, materials, donations, processing, and access related to Special Collections and University Archives, as well as providing support and instruction for the use of the collections. Her admirable leadership and many excellent contributions have helped the Library transform Special Collections and University Archives into a significantly improved and strategically important program in the Library’s portfolio. In addition to her extensive work in the Library, Professor Paschild has maintained a solid record of service at the professional, institutional, and community levels. A recognized leader in her field, she has been appointed and re-elected äs secretary for the Northwest Archivists, Inc. She has served as a faculty senator, a member of the Library Security and Events and Exhibits Committees, and she was appointed chair for the Social Sciences Librarian Search Committee. Within the community, she has a strong reputation as an engaged leader and has raised awareness about the Library’s resources and services. Professor Paschild’s many meritorious contributions in her primary areas of responsibility, her scholarly achievements to date, and her record of service are impressive. A deserving librarian who has earned a great deal of trust and respect. Professor Paschild’s hard work, creativity, and responsiveness make her a very deserving recipient of this award. The Kenneth W. and Elsie W. Butler Award for Library Faculty Service is given annually to recognize excellence of library service to students, faculty, and other patrons of the Portland State Library. The award was established through an endowment by Professor Emeritus Kenneth W. Butler and his wife Elsie W. Butler, and it continues to be supported by their daughters. 13
